Cristina Tartarone Wins PSA Womens Gibraltar Open

UNSQUASHABLE player Cristina Tartarone produced a dominant display of consistency and control to capture the 2026 PSA Women’s Gibraltar Squash Open title at the Europa Sports Centre in Gibraltar, completing an outstanding week with victory over England’s Amelie Haworth in the final.

Seeded first for the PSA World Squash Tour event, the Italian No.1 showcased her trademark combination of tactical intelligence, accurate shot-making and relentless movement throughout the tournament. Cristina dropped just one game across the event, underlining her authority as she progressed through a strong international field to secure another important PSA title.

Following a first-round bye, Cristina began her campaign with a commanding straight-games victory over Gibraltar’s Siena Hall. From the opening exchanges, she controlled the pace of the rallies with precise length and composed attacking play, advancing with an assured 11-5 11-4 11-4 success in just 18 minutes.

The quarter-finals provided a slightly tougher examination against Sweden’s Nathalie Malmström, but Cristina remained firmly in control for the majority of the contest. Combining accuracy from the back of the court with intelligent movement into the front corners, the top seed secured an impressive 11-4 11-5 14-12 victory in only 20 minutes to book her place in the semi-finals.

Cristina continued her excellent form in the last four against England’s Reka Kemecsei. Maintaining her attacking intent while applying consistent pressure, the Italian dictated the majority of the exchanges and produced another composed performance to record an 11-4 11-8 11-7 victory in 36 minutes.

The final against fourth seed Amelie Haworth represented Cristina’s biggest challenge of the tournament. The Italian established early control, taking the opening two games 11-8, 11-6, before Haworth responded by claiming the third game to extend the contest. However, Cristina demonstrated the composure and experience that have become hallmarks of her game, regaining control in the fourth to seal an 11-8, 11-6, 8-11, 11-6 victory after 37 minutes.

Throughout the tournament, Cristina’s ability to dictate tempo, maintain attacking pressure and remain composed in key moments proved decisive. Her performances highlighted the consistency and professionalism that have established her as one of the leading players on the PSA World Squash Tour.

The Gibraltar title represents another significant achievement in Cristina’s continued rise and adds further momentum to an already successful season. With her combination of technical quality, tactical awareness and competitive determination, the UNSQUASHABLE player continues to strengthen her reputation as one of the most accomplished players on the international circuit.
