Mostafa Asal, Nouran Gohar, Kenzy Ayman & Ryunosuke Tsukue recognised by the PSA as June players of the month

The Professional Squash Association (PSA) have recognised Egyptians Mostafa Asal and Nouran Gohar as the as the PSA World Tour Players of the Month for June with Kenzy Ayman of Egypt and Ryunosuke Tsukue of Japan acknowledged as the PSA Challenger Tour Players of the Month.

Mostafa Asal and Nouran Gohar emerged victorious in the recent PSA World Tour Finals following impressive showing at the PSA El Gouna International earlier in the month.

Asal reached the final of the PSA El Gouna International, where he succumbed to World No.1 Ali Farag in the final, before successfully retaining his title at the season-ending PSA World Tour Finals. Gohar claimed successive titles in June, beating surprise finalist Nele Gilis in straight games to win in El Gouna, followed by victory over compatriot Hania El Hammamy to claim the prestigious PSA World Tour Finals crown.

Asal, a two-time defending champion, retained his PSA World Tour Finals crown with victory over Diego Elias of Peru. Elias claimed a hard-fought first game, 11-9, but Asal mounted a comeback, triumphantly securing the next three games in impressive fashion. This achievement marked Asal's third consecutive title at the World Tour Finals, capping off a thrilling and eventful season for the Egyptian player.

In the women's final, World No.1 Gohar faced her familiar adversary Hania El Hammamy. The match, fuelled by the stakes of the championship, unfolded as a gruelling and fiercely contested encounter. After an astonishing 130 minutes, the longest women's match ever witnessed on the PSA World Tour, Gohar emerged victorious, clinching a nail-biting 12-10 win in the fifth game.

Kenzy Ayman of Egypt and Ryunosuke Tsukue of Japan have been recognised as the PSA Challenger Tour Players of the Month for June following outstanding performances during the month.

Ayman, entering the PSA Champion Fiberglass Women's Open in Houston, Texas as the top seed, faced a formidable challenge in a highly competitive field. Overcoming three compatriots on her path to the final, Ayman encountered her toughest test against Men Hamed in the semi-finals, ultimately prevailing with a hard-fought 3-2 victory. In the title clash against local favourite Marina Stefanoni, the Egyptian player started strongly, securing a 2-0 lead. Although Stefanoni managed to claw back a game, Ayman's resilience prevailed, as she closed out the fourth game with a 12-10 scoreline, securing her fourth title.

Meanwhile, Japan's Ryunosuke Tsukue showcased his exceptional form by clinching victory in the PSA Heroes Austrian Open held in Graz. Following an impressive win over Daniel Mekbib, Tsukue, ranked World No.61, advanced to the semi-finals, where he vanquished India's Abhay Singh. Notably, Tsukue did not drop a single game from that stage onwards, defeating Israel's Daniel Poleschuk 3-0 and subsequently triumphing over Czech player Viktor Brytus in a swift 26-minute final.

June proved to be an exhilarating month in the world of professional squash, marked by memorable performances from Mostafa Asal, Nouran Gohar, Kenzy Ayman, and Ryunosuke Tsukue. These exceptional athletes demonstrated their skill and determination, leaving an indelible mark on the PSA World Tour.
