Moustafa El Sirty reaches 3rd round of PSA J.P Morgan Tournament of Champions

Moustafa Elsirty left everything on the court in his 3rd round contest with fellow Egyptian & close friend Mazen Hesham under the iconic chandeliers at Grand Central Terminal Vanderbilt Hall at the J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions.

The pair had never previously met on the PSA World Tour, but knowing each other’s game well meant that it was always going to be a close contest, with the more experienced World No.9 eventually progressing into the quarter-finals with an 11-8 11-7 11-9 win.

Moustafa Elsirty beats Malaysian No.1 Eain Yow Ng at J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions
Moustafa Elsirty defeated Malaysian No.1 Eain Yow Ng 3-11 9-11 13-11 11-9 11-6 in 70-minutes at the Harvard Club of New York to progress to the 3rd round of the J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions where he will face fellow Egyptian Mazen Hesham.

Nick Wall produced a superlative display on the all-glass show court at the J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions at Grand Central Terminal against Victor Crouin before eventually being denied by the French No.1 9-11 11-6 6-11 11-9 11-8 in 72 minutes.

Iker Pajares Bernabeu was denied a place in the 3rd round of the J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions in New York by former World Champion Tarek Momen of Egypt. After the losing the opening two games, the Spanish No.1 battled-back to within one point in the third game at 8-9 but was unable to prevent Momen closing-out and 11-5 11-6 11-8 victory.

Nick Wall, Moustafa Elsirty & Iker Pajares Bernabeu all recorded wins in their opening round matches at the J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions which got underway across several venues in New York City.

In arguably the standout 1st round match, Spanish No.1 Iker Pajares Bernabeu overcame former World No.1, 2010 Tournament of Champions winner & fellow #teamunsquashable player James Willstrop 11-7 11-7 11-5 at Nicol Squash Club, the club owned by squash legend & 3-timeTournamant of Champions winner Peter Nicol. The 3-time Spanish Champion will face 6th seed & former World Champion Tarek Momen under the iconic chandeliers of Grand Central Terminal Vanderbilt Hall in New York.

Nick Wall & Moustafa Elsirty have also earned the right to play at Grand Central Terminal after impressive wins of Shahjahan Khan & Yahya Elnawasany respectively.

The young Englishman, making his New York debut, set-up a 2nd round match with French No.1 Victor Crouin, a repeat of their 1st round encounter at last year’s British Open, after beating USA No.1 Shahjahan Khan 11-3 11-6 11-4 at the Harvard Club of New York, whilst Moustafa Elsirty will play Eain Yow Ng of Malaysia after an impressive 43-minute 11-4 11-9 7-11 11-9 victory over fellow Egyptian Yahya Elnawasany at the River Club of New York.

Todd Harrity & Lucas Serme were both unable to progress to the 2nd round after defeats to Mohamed ElSherbini of Egypt & Qatar No.1 Abdulla Mohd Al Tamimi respectively.

James Willstrop will be making a remarkable 19th appearance at the prestigious event & will play fellow #teamunsquashable player Iker Pajares Bernabeu of Spain.

3-time US Champion Todd Harrity will play Abdullah Mohd Al Tamimi of Qatar in his opening match, Moustafa El Sirty will be up against fellow Egyptian Yahya Elnawasany, Lucas Serme of France will face Mohamed ElSherbini of Egypt & Nick Wall of England, making his debut in New York, will be play Shahjahan Khan of the USA.
