Tarek Momen of Egypt secured the 2024 QSF Qatar 5 Squash Open 2024 title after overturning a one-game deficit to defeat compatriot Aly Abou Eleinen 2-11 11-5 11-9 11-7 on an enthralling 62-minute final at the Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex in Doha.

The 36-year-old, ranked World No.9, who claimed his last title at the same venue during the QSF Qatar 3 Squash Open in May, displayed resilience and experience to triumph with his fellow Egyptian who had beaten the former World Champion in their two previous encounters this season.

Aly Abou Eleinen made a blistering start in the eagerly anticipated final, with his precise shot placement and consistency forcing uncharacteristic errors from his top seeded rival, enabling him to dominate the opening game.

However, Tarek Momen swiftly adjusted his game, finding greater accuracy and length, and by combining intelligent cross-court play with a strategy that tested his younger opponent’s endurance, the former World Champion levelled the match.

The pivotal third game saw Eleinen fight valiantly, saving three out of four game balls. He even requested a new ball, a tactic that had proved successful in his semi-final win over Qatar’s Abdulla Al-Tamimi. This time, though, it was Momen who maintained control, edging ahead to take a 2-1 lead.

In the fourth game, Momen dominated the centre of the court, dictating play with authority. His tactical precision and physical superiority sealed a four-game victory, securing his 11th PSA World Squash Tour title.
