Miguel Ángel Rodríguez is one of the most exciting and popular squash players of his generation, a real favourite amongst squash fans around the world, who has the distinction of being the first South American to win a major title on the PSA World Tour and to be ranked in the world’s top five.

Born in Bogotá, Colombia, Miguel was first introduced to squash by his father Ángel Rodríguez, a former professional squash player himself, at just three years of age. During a distinguished junior career, Miguel's most notable achievements were winning the Canadian Junior Open at the age of 10 in 1995 and winning the Boys U19 Canadian Junior Open and US Junior Open in consecutive years, 2003 and 2004.

Miguel started his professional squash career in 2005 at the age of 19 and claimed his first PSA World Tour title in November of that year, winning the Tortugas Open.

His distinguished career has seen him achieve many notable firsts for a South American player; the first to win a major PSA World Tour title, the first-ever player from Colombia, and more broadly South America, to win the coveted British Open title, the world’s oldest and longest-standing squash tournament; the first ever South American to reach the semi-finals of a PSA World Series event, which he achieved at the 2015 Tournament of Champions alongside being the first ever South American to reach a World Championship quarter-final which in achieved in November of the same year.

After exceeding Federico Usandizaga of Argentina in 2013 to become the highest-ranked South American, Miguel has risen to a career-high No.4 in the PSA World Rankings.

Following an extended period working with the our footwear designers to provide invaluable input into several unique, leading-edge innovations, Miguel made his first appearance on the PSA World Tour wearing UNSQUASHABLE shoes at the Paris Open at the start of the 2024-2025 squash season, further raising our overall visibility, influence and popularity on the PSA World Tour.
