Miguel Rodríguez Extends Colombian Dominance with Record 20th National Title

UNSQUASHABLE player Miguel Rodríguez added another remarkable milestone to his illustrious career, claiming a record 20th Colombian National Squash Championship title at the 2026 Championships in Armenia, Quindío.

Competing against the country's leading players, the former World No.4 once again demonstrated the skill, resilience and competitive spirit that have defined his remarkable career, extending his extraordinary unbeaten record at the Colombian National Championships to an astonishing 102 consecutive victories.

Miguel progressed confidently through the early stages of the tournament before facing rising talent Juan José Torres in the semi-finals. Played in challenging morning conditions, with soaring court temperatures adding to the physical demands, the opening exchanges were fiercely contested. After edging a tight first game, Miguel briefly surrendered the second before his superior experience and tactical awareness came to the fore. Increasing the accuracy of his length and controlling the centre of the court, he moved clear to complete a 12-10 9-11 11-5 11-4 victory and secure his place in the final.

Only a few hours later, Miguel returned to court to face Ronald Palomino in a captivating all-UNSQUASHABLE player final that proved to be the standout contest of the tournament.

The pair produced a superb spectacle over 105 minutes, combining relentless pace, lengthy rallies and exceptional shot-making in a contest that ebbed and flowed throughout. After taking the opening game, Miguel found himself under pressure as Ronald claimed the next two to move within one game of the title.

However, champions are often defined by their response to adversity, and Miguel once again demonstrated the qualities that have made him Colombia's greatest-ever player. Remaining composed in the decisive moments, he raised his level when it mattered most, reclaiming control of the rallies with intelligent variation, accurate length and trademark athleticism. The momentum swung decisively in his favour as he captured the fourth game before closing out the decider to complete a hard-fought 11-8 9-11 6-11 11-9 11-6 victory.

The triumph secured yet another Colombian National Championship for Miguel and reinforced his enduring status at the summit of the domestic game. Extending his remarkable unbeaten national record to 102-0, the victory stands as another milestone in one of the most distinguished careers in Colombian squash history.

While Miguel continues to enjoy success on the PSA World Tour, his latest national title is further evidence of his unwavering commitment, professionalism and ability to perform under pressure. More than two decades after first establishing himself among Colombia's elite, the UNSQUASHABLE star remains the benchmark against which every aspiring Colombian player is measured.
