2025 London Squash Classic to be staged from 2nd to 7th September
July 30 2025

Diego Elias of Peru and Olivia Weaver of the USA have been named the top seeds for the 2025 Professional Squash Association (PSA) London Squash Classic, as the PSA Gold event returns for its highly anticipated second edition from the 2nd to 7th September.
The tournament will once again take place on the all-glass show court at Alexandra Palace, a venue that delivered a memorable debut last year and proved to be an electric setting for squash, offering both players and fans a unique atmosphere that elevated the event from the outset.
World No.2 Elias heads the men’s draw and will be making his first appearance at the London Squash Classic, though it marks his 10th PSA World Squash Tour event in London. The Peruvian closed out last season with mixed fortunes, lifting the prestigious British Squash Open in June, but falling short at the end-of-season PSA World Squash Tour Finals. Having not won a PSA Gold-level title since 2022, Elias will be aiming to open the new campaign with a statement performance.
Returning to defend his title is New Zealand’s Paul Coll, who captured the inaugural crown in 2024 after battling past Joel Makin and Mostafa Asal. A mainstay in the world’s top five, Paul Coll knows that to reignite his push for the top ranking, wins over direct rivals like Elias and Asal are crucial.
Home hopes rest on third seed Joel Makin and fourth seed Marwan ElShorbagy. Joel Makin enjoyed his best squash season to date last year, breaking into the world’s top four and clinching the PSA World Tour Squash Finals title. A potential semi-final against Diego Elias, after a controversial clash in Toronto, could be one of the tournament’s standout fixtures.
Marwan ElShorbagy, who shares the bottom half of the draw with Paul Coll, quietly made his way back into the world’s top five last season following a three-year gap. He and Coll met five times across the campaign, with Marwan ElShorbagy taking only the first of those matchups.~
In the women’s draw, World No.4 Olivia Weaver enters as the top seed following a strong 2024–25 squash season campaign, where she claimed PSA World Tour Gold titles in Silicon Valley and Australia. Olivier will be targeting an 11th career title in what will be just her second competitive outing in London.
Seventeen-year-old Egyptian star Amina Orfi is seeded second and continues to make waves on the world stage. The reigning World Junior Squash Champion claimed wins over three of the current top four last season, underlining her status as a rising force. London marks her third PSA event in England and her first in the UK capital.
Third seed Satomi Watanabe will enjoy something of a home advantage, having trained in Roehampton, just a short distance from Alexandra Palace, for several years under the guidance of former World No.3 Alison Waters. The Japanese No.1 broke through last season, reaching a World Championship quarter-final and two Gold-level finals. If she and Weaver advance, a semi-final showdown could be on the cards.
In the opposite half, fourth seed Tinne Gilis is hoping to make a deeper impact this season after consistently reaching the last eight of major events and will potentially face defending champion Sivasangari Subramaniam in the quarter-finals, a tough match-up made more challenging by the Malaysian’s successful history at the event.
The home crowd will have plenty to cheer for with British talents such as Jonah Bryant, Declan James, Georgina Kennedy and Georgia Adderley all looking to make a strong impression on home soil.
Matches will take place at both Coolhurst LTSC and Alexandra Palace.
