Marwan Elshorbagy & Amanda Sobhy Crowned 2025 PSA Squash On Fire Open ChampionsTitles Squash On Fire, Washington DC, USA

England’s Marwan ElShorbagy and Amanda Sobhy of the USA claimed the 2025 PSA Squash on Fire Open titles after defeating Malaysian duo Eain Yow Ng and Rachel Arnold, respectively, in Washington D.C., USA.

Marwan ElShorbagy, who entered the final off the back of a hard-fought four-game victory over former World No.11 Grégoire Marche, started strongly against Eain Yow Ng. The opening game was tightly contested, lasting 15 minutes, with Marwan ElShorbagy racing to a 6-2 lead before his opponent rallied to close the gap to 9-10. However, the Englishman held his nerve to secure the opener with two rapid points.

In a reversal of fortunes, Eain Yow Ng led 6-2 in the second game, but Marwan ElShorbagy responded impressively, drawing level at 7-7 before edging ahead to take the game 11-9 after a gruelling 28 minutes. Riding the momentum, Marwan ElShorbagy dominated the third game, closing out the match in just seven minutes to seal his third title of the season.

Significantly, the triumph also sees Marwan ElShorbagy surpass his brother, former World No.1 Mohamed ElShorbagy, in the world rankings for the first time in his career.

In the women’s final, second seed Amanda Sobhy overcame a spirited challenge from Rachel Arnold to lift her second PSA World Squash Tour title of the season. Having breezed into the final without dropping a game, t American appeared poised for a swift victory, storming to a 2-0 lead in under 10 minutes.

However, Rachel Arnold battled back in the third, matching her opponent point for point before eventually converting her third game ball to avoid a tie-break and extend the match. The fourth game proved equally competitive, but a crucial run of four consecutive points saw the American pull away to a 9-7 lead and eventually close-out the contest to add another title to her 2025 campaign.
