Victor Crouin & Nour ElSherbini Crowned 2026 Texas Squash Open Champions
February 12 2026
Victor Crouin and Nour ElSherbini were crowned champions at the 2026 Texas Squash Open, delivering standout performances on an enthralling finals night at the Houston Squash Club.
Fourth seed Victor Crouin secured the most significant title of his career with a composed four-game victory over World No.4 Diego Elias, overturning recent head-to-head struggles against the Peruvian with an intelligent and tactically disciplined display. Despite surrendering a 9-4 advantage in the opening game after a cluster of unforced errors, the 26-year-old Frenchman quickly recalibrated. Using sharp attacks into the front corners and controlling the middle of the court, he disrupted Elias’ rhythm and dictated the tempo across the next two games as frustration began to show from the 2024 World Squash Champion.
Victor Crouin looked set for a comfortable finish when he surged to 10-5 in the fourth, but Elias mounted a late charge, closing to within a point at 10-9 to raise tension inside the arena. The Frenchman, however, held firm under pressure and sealed victory after being awarded a decisive stroke, claiming the 21st PSA World Squash Tour title of his career and a landmark breakthrough at PSA Gold-level tournament.
In the women’s final, Nour ElSherbini underlined her status as the sport’s dominant force by capturing her 47th PSA World Squash Tour title with a dramatic comeback win over U.S. No.1 Olivia Weaver. The Egyptian fought back from 2-1 down to prevail 13-15 13-11 12-14 11-8 11-8, extending her remarkable unbeaten run against Weaver to 17 matches.
Much like her recent triumph at the Windy City Squash Open, the eight-time World Squash Champion delivered her best squash when it mattered most. After three fiercely contested tie-break games left Weaver holding a narrow advantage, ElSherbini elevated both her accuracy and shot selection in the closing stages. The American remained firmly in contention at 6-6 in the deciding game, but a costly error followed by two marginal calls going against her shifted the momentum decisively. ElSherbini capitalised ruthlessly, converting her second championship opportunity to secure a second Texas Open crown - remarkably, 12 years after first lifting the trophy as a qualifier.

The Professional Squash Association (PSA) have released the draws for the 2026 Texas Squash Open to be staged at Houston Squash Club from the 12th to 16th February, with Diego Elias and Nour ElSherbini confirmed as top seeds.
Men’s top seed Diego Elias makes his anticipated return after time away from competition following the Egyptian Squash Open final earlier this season. The reigning British Squash Open champion has been managing a knee issue and will be eager to regain momentum after slipping behind Mostafa Asal and Paul Coll in the PSA World Squash Rankings.
Renowned for his exceptional touch, composure and tactical intelligence, the Peruvian arrives in Houston with a clear objective: to reassert himself at the very top of the men’s game. If fully fit, Elias will be widely regarded as the leading contender for a first Texas Squash Open crown.
Second seed Karim Gawad is once again expected to thrive on familiar territory. A long-time favourite at Houston Squash Club, the 2016 World Squash Champion has built a strong connection with the venue and regularly produces his best squash there. Currently ranked World No.4, Gawad has enjoyed an impressive start to the season and already owns a PSA Gold-level title on US soil after his success at the Silicon Valley Squash Open. Another deep run in Houston would come as no surprise.
Youssef Ibrahim and Marwan ElShorbagy complete a dangerous group of title challengers as the third and fourth seeds. Ibrahim has taken a significant step forward this season, combining his natural attacking instincts with improved discipline and structure. That evolution has been reflected in a run of three consecutive PSA World Tour finals. Drawn in the same half as Gawad, the Egyptian will be confident of making another major impact. ElShorbagy, meanwhile, remains one of the most disruptive figures on tour and is projected to meet Elias in the semi-finals should both progress.
In the women’s draw, World No.1 Nour ElSherbini headlines the field as she returns to Texas for just the third time in her career. Her history at the event is already memorable, having come through qualifying to lift the title on debut in 2014. The eight-time World Squash Champion closed out 2025 in emphatic fashion with victory at the Hong Kong Squash Open and will be aiming to carry that form into the new season as she hunts her first Gold title since January 2024.
Second seed Olivia Weaver leads the American challenge. The USA No.1 finished last season with a breakthrough run to her first PSA Platinum World Tour final, where she was denied by ElSherbini. Despite the defeat, the World No.5 will take considerable confidence from that performance as she continues her push towards the very top of the women’s game. Weaver begins her campaign at the foot of the draw and is set to face either Kenzy Ayman or Nour Heikal in round two.
England’s Georgina Kennedy and Egypt’s Salma Hany round out the top four seeds. Kennedy enjoyed a return to finals earlier this season at the Canadian Squash Open and will be keen to capitalise on her seeding position as she looks to add further silverware. Hany, meanwhile, has endured an interrupted campaign due to minor injuries but will hope a fresh start to the year allows her to rediscover her best form and re-establish herself inside the world’s top ten.
With established champions, emerging contenders and strong home interest, the 2026 Texas Squash Open is shaping up to be a compelling stop on the PSA Squash Tour calendar.
