The 3rd seeded Spaniard came into the tournament at a career-high No.105 in the PSA World Rankings & after receiving a bye through to the 2nd round started his campaign with an 11-6 11-4 11-5 victory over compatriot Aron Astray in 30 minutes.

In the quarter-finals, Iván defeated 6th seeded Frenchman Edwin Clain 11-7 2-11 11-5 13-11 in 55 minutes & in the semi-finals overcame the 2nd seed & fellow UNSQUASHABLE player Nick Wall 11-6 7-11 13-11 11-7 in 49 minutes.

In an eagerly awaited & highly competitive final, Iván took the game to his Egyptian rival to win first game before finding himself level after a fightback from the tournament top seed.
