Moustafa Elsirty wins PSA Capra Baerum Squash Open

Moustafa Elsirty claimed his 8th PSA World Tour title of the year with a 6-11 11-7 11-8 11-8 victory over top seed Bernat Jaume of Spain to win the PSA Capra Baerum Squash Open staged at Lysaker Squash & Fitness in Norway.

The Egyptian, whose PSA World Ranking had jumped over 30 places to a career-high World No.51 coming into the event, ensured that he increased his number of titles over the course of 2021 with another sequence of impressive wins.

Moustafa Elsirty, who was the No.2 seed behind Bernat Jaume, received a bye through to the second round where he beat Ammar Altamimi of Kuwait 11-8 1-11 11-7 11-3 in 26 minutes.

In the quarter-finals, Moustafa Elsirty overcame fellow #teamunsquashable player Nick Wall of England in a close five-game encounter which lasted over an hour, before beating Tsz Kwan Lau of Hong Kong 11-6 11-8 11-9 in the semi-finals in just 26 minutes.

In the final, Moustafa Elsirty recovered from losing the 1st game over the top seeded Spaniard to force himself back into the contest to close-out a 54-minute victory to claiming his eighth PSA World Tour title of the calendar year.

The 2021 PSA Capra Baerum Squash Open also featured #teamunsquashable players Iván Pérez, Yannick Wilhelmi & Simon Herbert.

Yannick Wilhelmi defeated Wild Card Tobias Fritz Weel of Denmark 11-1 11-5 11-1 but was unable to progress beyond Tsz Kwan Lau of Hong Kong who overcame the Swiss player 9-11 7-11 11-5 11-3 11-8.

Ivan Perez overcame Tobias Weggen of Germany 8-11 7-11 11-3 11-4 11-4 in the 1st round but fell to Max Lee of Hong Kong in the 2nd round.

Simon Herbert beat Lukas Windischberger of Austria 11-4 11-7 11-4 in his opening match but was beaten by Bernat Jaume in the 2nd round.
