Despite another impressive performance, defending Men’s Singles Gold Medallist James Willstrop was unable to overcome No.2 seed Joel Makin of Wales in the semi-finals of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
The 38-year-old who battled past fellow #teamunsquashable player Rory Stewart of Scotland in a tough 5-game quarter-final match extended Joel Makin for 50 minutes before eventually being beaten 11-5 11-5 11-9 on the all-glass show court.
James Willstrop will today face Saurav Ghosal in the Bronze Medal match & despite his Men’s Singles Gold Medal defence coming to an end will no doubt reflect on a positive games that saw him become the first male player to reach four successive Commonwealth Games semi-finals.
