Nick Wall reaches semi-finals of 2024 PSA Richardson Wealth Van Lawn Squash Open

UNSQUASHABLE player Nick Wall reached the semi-finals of the 2024 PSA Richardson Wealth Van Lawn Squash Open before being denied a place in the final at the Vancouver Lawn Tennis & Badminton Club in Canada by 2nd seed Leonel Cardenas of Mexico.
The young Englishman started his campaign with a 42-minute 6-11 12-10 11-5 11-5 2nd round victory over Malaysian Bryan Lim which he followed-up with a clinical 11-3 11-5 11-9 quarter-final win over Shahjahan Khan in 41 minutes.
In the semi-finals, No.2 seed Leonel Cardenas dominated for much of his 37-minute match which saw take the first game 11-3. Nick Wall looked to have an opportunity to level the contest when he took a 9-7 lead in the second game two but was unable to convert, with the Mexican winning four consecutive points to close-out the game 11-9. The third game saw the Mexican win the first seven points of game three as he progressed to an impressive 11-3 11-9 11-3 win.
Fellow UNSQUASHABLE player Yannick Wilhemi was also competing in Vancouver. Despite an hardfought 63-minute 11-8 11-3 10-12 13-15 11-9 win over Matthew Lai on the Hong Kong in the 2nd round, the young Swiss player was unable to progress past 4th seed and Hong Kong No.1 Tsz Kwan Lau who claimed a 47-minute 11-6 8-11 11-7 11-2 quarter-final win.
