Competing in his first PSA World Tour event since February, Moustafa Elsirty defeated Rui Soares 11-4 7-11 11-7 11-9 to win the 2023 Madeira International Squash Open staged at the Galo Active Health Club, Funchal, Madeira, Portugal.
Moustafa Elsirty made a triumphant comeback to the PSA Tour, securing victory in over Rui Soares in the men’s final of the 2023 Madeira International Squash Open. In an impressive return after an absence since February, E Moustafa Elsirty dominated by eliminating the top seed Bernat Jaume and 3rd seed Ben Smith to secure his place in the final.
His opponent in the final was Portugal No.1 Rui Soares, who aimed to reverse his fortunes after finishing as the event's runner-up for the past two consecutive years. Notably, Rui Soares had previously tasted defeat against Moustafa Elsirty in the 2021 final of Madeira International Squash Open and sought redemption this time around.
The climactic battle witnessed Moustafa Elsirty asserting his dominance once more, sealing a 3-1 victory over the Portuguese No.1 in a 56-minute intense clash.

Quarter-finals day at the Madeira International Squash Open 2023 saw top seed Bernat Jaume experience an unexpected exit.
Bernat Jaume suffered defeat at the hands of the 2021 titleholder, Moustafa Elsirty, who dominated the match with a commanding 3-0 victory in just 46 minutes. A convincing win propelled Moustafa Elsirty into the semi-finals, where he is set to clash against Ben Smith. Ben Smith secured his spot in the semis with an equally impressive 3-0 triumph over Lwamba Chileshe.
Joining Moustafa Elsirty in the semi-finals is the 2022 winner Rui Soares. Portugal No.1 Rui Soares experienced defeat against Moustafa Elsirty in the final of the 2021 Madeira International Squash Open.

Moustafa Elsirty, making his first appearance on the Professional Squash Association (PSA) World Tour since February, will face top seed Bernat Jaume of Spain in the quarter-finals after defeating Alasdair Prott of Scotland 12-10 11-3 11-3 in 26 minutes.
