Mostafa Asal & Hania El Hammamy Crowned 2026 Sprott Tourament of Champions
January 24 2026
World No.1s Mostafa Asal and Hania El Hammamy were crowned champions at the 2026 Sprott Tournament of Champions presented by Crowd Street after producing commanding performances in their respective finals beneath the iconic surroundings of Grand Central Terminal in New York.
Mostafa Asal produced a ruthless performance to capture his maiden Tournament of Champions crown, dismantling World No.2 Paul Coll in straight games. Competing in his first final at the event, the Egyptian star imposed himself from the outset, giving the New Zealander little room to settle.
The clash represented the third meeting of the season between the pair with a trophy on the line, following Paul Coll’s success at the Qatar Squash Classic and Mostafa Asal’s victory at the U.S. Squash Open. On this occasion, it was Asal who asserted clear supremacy.
Unbeaten in individual games since his semi-final defeat to Victor Crouin at the Silicon Valley Squash Open in October, the ‘Raging Bull’ extended that extraordinary streak with a comprehensive 11-6 11-1 11-4 win, lifting the 26th PSA World Squash Tour title of his career and further cementing his position as one of the sport’s dominant forces.
In the women's final, Hania El Hammamy delivered a remarkable display of resilience to successfully defend her women’s crown, edging past USA No.1 Olivia Weaver in a dramatic five-game marathon. The Egyptian becomes only the fourth woman in the tournament’s history to retain the prestigious title, underlining her status at the summit of the women’s game.
The 23-year-old looked to be heading for defeat when she trailed 9-3 in the deciding game, with Weaver just two points from claiming her first PSA World Squash Tour Platinum-level title and becoming the first US-born winner in the event’s history. However, El Hammamy showed her trademark composure under pressure, reeling off eight consecutive points to stun the home favourite and complete an extraordinary turnaround.
Having never previously lost to Weaver on the PSA World Squash Tour, El Hammamy preserved her perfect record with an 81-minute triumph, sealing a 7-11 5-11 11-9 11-5 11-9 victory to secure the 19th title of her professional career.
The 2026 Sprott Tournament of Champions presented by Crowd Street was staged at Grand Central Terminal in New York, USA from the 22nd to 29th January.
