The 2025 Professional Squash Association (PSA) Cannon Kirk Gillen Markets Irish Squash Open will be staged at Fitzwilliam LTC in Dublin, Ireland from the 20th to 24th May, making its debut on the PSA World Squash Tour following its recent upgrade from PSA Challenger status.
The championships will be played across two courts within the historic Fitzwilliam Lawn Tennis Club, one on a traditional court and the other on the eye-catching show court, distinguished by its striking green panelling.
Reigning champion Jonah Bryant returns as the men’s No.2 seed, aiming to defend his crown after claiming his maiden PSA World Squash Tour title at this event last year. The 19-year-old Englishman has enjoyed a meteoric rise since that triumph, breaking into the world’s top 30 for the first time and establishing himself as one of the brightest prospects on the PSA World Squash Tour. Jonah Bryant finds himself in the same quarter of the draw as No.8 seed Rui Soares and opens his campaign against the winner of the first-round clash between France’s Melvil Scianimanico and Germany’s Yannick Omlor.
The men’s draw features a strong British contingent, spearheaded by Scottish No.1 and top seed Greg Lobban. Fellow Scot Rory Stewart is seeded seventh, while England is also represented by George Parker, third seed, Patrick Rooney, fifth seed, and Simon Herbert, sixth seed.
World No.122 Sam Buckley of Ireland, who enters the tournament as a wildcard. has been riding high following a sensational showing at the European Team Squash Championships earlier this month, where he stunned the squash world by overturning a two-game deficit to defeat World No.7 Marwan ElShorbagy in a standout performance. The young Irishman begins his 2025 Irish Squash Open campaign against England’s Tom Walsh.
UNSQUASHABLE will be represented at the 2025 Professional Squash Association (PSA) Cannon Kirk Gillen Markets Irish Squash Open by Yannick Wilhelmi and Rory Stewart.
