Daniel Mekbib wins Brno Squash Open 2024 in Czech Republic

UNSQUASHBLE player Daniel Mekbib defeated top seed and compatriot Martin Svec 11-8 11-4 11-6 to win the PSA Brno Squash Open 2024 staged at the Centrum Viktoria in Brno, Czech Republic.
The Czech 2nd seed was in imperious form throughout, dropping just a single game in the whole tournament, beating Valeriy Fedoruk of the Ukraine 11-8 11-3 11-5 in his opening match, followed by an equally comprehensive 11-6 11-5 11-4 victory over Tomasz Matejski of Poland in the quarter-finals.
In the semi-finals, Daniel Mekbib overcame 3rd seeded fellow countryman Jakub Solnicky 12-10 11-6 4-11 11-6 in 44 minutes and claimed his six Professional Squash Association (PSA) title with an impressive 28-minute straight-games victory over the top seed in the much-anticipated final.
