Rory Stewart reaches 2nd round of PSA World Championships in Chicago

Rory Stewart of Scotland was denied a place in the 3rd round of the PSA World Championships by 11th seed Joel Makin of Wales at the University Club of Chicago who overcame the Scot 11-6 11-6 11-5 in 41 minutes.

Rory Stewart of Scotland will today face Joel Makin of Wales in the 2nd round of the PSA World Championships at the University Club of Chicago.

The Scot is the last remaining #teamunsquashable player in this year’s championship after George Parker, Iker Pajares Bernabeu & James Willstrop were all beaten in the remaining 1st round matches by Mohamed Abouelghar of Egypt, Dimitri Steinmann of Switzerland & Henry Leung of Hong Kong respectively.

After losing the opening two games in his 1st round match, former World No.1 & World Championship finalist James Willstrop mounted a tremendous fightback to level the match, before eventually being denied 11-6 11-7 9-11 9-11 15-13 in 65 minutes.

Rory Stewart of Scotland defeated Edwin Clain of France 11-7 11-7 12-10 in 40 minutes on the opening day of the PSA World Championships at the University Club of Chicago to face Joel Makin of Wales in the 2nd round.

Fellow #teamunsquashable players Lucas Serme, Nick Wall & Todd Harrity were all denied a place in the 2nd round of the sport’s most prestigious event following defeats to Mazen Hesham, Aly Abou Eleinen & Miguel Angel Rodriguez respectively.

The PSA World Championships continues today & will feature UNSQUASHABLE players George Parker, Iker Pajares Bernabeu & James Willstrop.

George Parker will face Egyptian Mohamed Abouelghar, Iker Pajares Bernabeu will play Dimitri Steinmann of Switzerland & James Willstrop will be up against Henry Leung of Hong Kong.

The Professional Squash Association (PSA) World Championships presented by the Walter Family will be staged in Chicago in the USA between the 3rd to 11th May & will feature 128 of the world’s best squash players.

The PSA World Championships are the most world’s most prestigious squash tournament which will offer a record $1,000,000 prize fund split equally between the male and female draws. The opening round of matches will be held at the University Club of Chicago before action moves to from the 2nd round onwards to the spectacular Union Station which hosted the 2018-19 PSA World Championships.

Former World Champion runner-up James Willstrop will play Henry Leung of Hong Kong in the 1st round, while three-time US Champion Todd Harrity will face Miguel Angel Rodriguez of Colombia in his 1st round match.

Spanish Champion & three-time Spanish Iker Pajares Bernabeu will play Dimitri Steinmann of Switzerland, two-time French Champion Lucas Serme will be up against the inform Mazen Hesham of Egypt, whilst England’s Nick Wall will play Egyptian Aly Abou Eleinen.

George Parker of England & Scotland’s Rory Stewart will both face qualifiers.
