George Parker was forced to retire with a foot injury against of Scottish No.1 Greg Lobban in the semi-finals of the PSA Men's 3rd Open de Lagord 2023 staged at Lagord Tennis Squash in Lagord, France.

George Parker will face Scottish No.1 Greg Lobban in the semi-finals of the
of the PSA Men's 3rd Open de Lagord 2023 at Lagord Tennis Squash in Lagord, France follwing a 55-minute 11-6 6-11 11-4 11-7 quarter-final victory over Toufik Mekhalfi of France.
In front of his home crowd, Baptiste Masotti continued his impressive campaign to securing a spot in the semi-finals by defeating England's Declan James with a commanding 11-5 11-9 15-13 victory.
The Frenchman, seeded No.1, appeared poised for a straightforward triumph after convincingly taking the first two games 11-5 and 11-9. However, the third game took an unexpected turn. Declan James, showing remarkable resilience, led for the majority of the game and even held multiple game balls at 10-9, 11-10 and 12-11. However, Baptiste Masotti demonstrated his determination to eventually secure his place in the semi-finals.
In the semi-final showdown, Baptiste Masotti will face Ivan Yuen who made quick work of his fellow Malaysian Mohammad Syafiq Kamal in a match that lasted just over half an hour, with Yuen conceding just six points in each game.
The bottom half of the draw will feature an exciting clash between George Parker and Greg Lobban, as both eliminated French opponents in the quarter-finals. George Parker faced Toufik Mekhalfi, who had previously conquered Yahya Elnawasany in the second round. After splitting the first two games, the Englishman dominated the following two, eventually securing the match in four games.
Greg Lobban's victory followed a similar pattern as he triumphed over Lucas Serme. Although Lucas Serme managed to level the match in the second game, it was the Scottish No.1 who took control of the contest, winning the next two games. The fourth game proved to be a tense battle, but Greg Lobban remained composed to ultimately prevail 11-9 6-11 11-7 11-9 in 60 minutes.
With Baptiste Masotti as the sole remaining Frenchman in the draw, home hopes now rest on his shoulders as he aims to continue his impressive run on home soil.

Owain Taylor and Daniel Mekbib both progressed to the 2nd round of the PSA 3rd Open de Lagord 2023 being staged at the Lagord Tennis Squash in France at the expense of fellow UNSQUASHABLE players Temwa Chileshe and Lwamba Chileshe respectively.
Welshman Owain Taylor will today face another UNSQUASHABLE player, George Parker, following a 55-minute 11-7 6-11 11-5 11-8 win over defeated Temwa Chileshe of New Zealand.
Daniel Mekbib of Czech Republic will play 2nd seed Greg Lobban in the 2nd round after beating Lwamba Chileshe 11-6 11-9 11-4.
Rory Stewart and Lucas Serme will also both feature in the 2nd round of the Professional Squash Association (PSA) Challenger event.
4th seed Rory Stewart of Scotland will face Mohd Syafiq Kamal of Malaysia, whilst 6th seed Lucas Serme will play Perry Malik of England.
