Despite their opponents, the dangerous Eain Yow Ng and Ivan Yuen of Malaysia, pushing them all the way in an exciting match, Rory Stewart combined with Greg Lobban to help the Scottish No.1 end a run of three consecutive men’s doubles bronze medal match defeats.
The first game was even throughout with Rory Stewart & Greg Lobban saving a game ball at 10-9 before going on to claim a vital 1-0 lead with an 11-10 win. The Malaysians recovered well to establish a lead in the 2nd game before the Scots wrestled back the momentum to secure the Bronze Medal with an 11-6 victory.
The Scottish No.2 seeds have developed a formidable partnership since their Silver Medal at the World Doubles Championships in April & were only denied in the semi-finals by the experienced Daryl Selby & Adrian Waller partnership following an epic 72-minute encounter.
In the quarter-finals they defeated Zac Alexander & Ryan Cuskelly of Australia 11-2 11-9 after beating Tayyab Aslam & Nasir Iqbal of Pakistan in their opening match.
