Rory Stewart wins PSA Texas Squash Open

Scotland’s Rory Stewart produced a spectacular 12-10 10-12 17-19 11-5 11-3 victory over Sam Todd of England to win the PSA Novum Energy Texas Squash Open staged at the Downtown Club, Houston, USA to secure his 4th PSA World Tour title of the year.

Rory Stewart, seed No.4 seed for the tournament, started his campaign with wins over Tom Walsh of England & Welshman Emyr Evans to make it into the semi-finals where he faced fellow #teanunsquashable player Lwamba Chileshe of New Zealand.

Lwamba Chileshe started strongly to take the 1st game 11-1, however Rory Stewart quickly regrouped to take the next three games 11-8 11-8 11-1 to close-out an impressive four-game victory & set up a clash in the final with England’s Sam Todd.

The final proved to be an epic five-game contest, with the first three games all going to tie-breaks. The Englishman took two of those, including an incredible 19-17 third game, but after that Rory Stewart showed his resilience & all-round qualities to win the next two games 11-5 11-3 to win his fourth title of the year.

Lwamba Chileshe overcame Wild Card Alejandro Reyes of Mexico 10-12 11-9 11-8 11-7 & Karim Elbarbary of Egypt 11-7 11-5 9-11 11-5 enroute to his semi-final against the eventual title winner.
