Miguel Rodríguez reaches PSA QSF Qatar Open semi-finals
November 25 2024
Miguel Rodríguez was denied a place in the final of the 2024 PSA QSF Qatar 5 Squash Open at the Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex in Doha by top seed and eventual champion Tarek Momen.
Momen, whose last PSA World Tour Squash title came at the QSF Qatar 3 Squash Open in May, controlled the opening game of their semi-final, taking his opportunities well to draw first blood. Miguel provided the perfect response in the second game with his improved length hitting allowing him to restore parity.
However, Momen, the former World Squash Champion, regained control of the T in the third and fourth games which eventually allowed him to close-out an 11-5 8-11 11-6 11-3 victory in 37 minutes.
Miguel had reached the semi-finals with impressive wins over Aly Hussein of Egypt, who he defeated 11-8 11-6 11-5 in his opening match, and which the Colombian followed-up with a 45 minute 11-9 11-5 11-9 quarter-final victory over Grégoire Marche of France.
