European Team Squash Championships in Helsinki

Great win for Iker Pajares Bernabeu against Victor Crouin of France on the opening day of the European Team Championships in Helsinki with the Spanish No.1 beating the World No.8 11-6 4-11 11-9 11-9

Fellow #teamunsquashable Iván Pérez came close to another major upset against Baptiste Masotti before eventually being denied by the World No.15 & French No.3 13-11 11-9 9-11 11-6.

France eventually claimed the match with wins for Gregoire Marche & Sebastien Bonmalais.

Both Iker Pajares Bernabeu & Iván Pérez played pivotal roles in Spain beating Scotland with the Spanish No.1 & 3-time Spanish Champion beating Scottish No.1 Greg Lobban 12-10 7-11 11-3 11-7 in 64minutes & Iván Pérez overcoming fellow #teamunsquashable player Douglas Kempsell 12-10 11-6 13-11 in 51 minutes.

Also competing at this year’s European Team Championships in Finland are UNSQUASHABLE players Nick Wall (England), Elliott Morris Devred (Wales), Rory Stewart & Douglas Kempsell (Scotland) Yannick Wilhelmi (Switzerland) & Klara Møller (Denmark).

Nick Wall, making his senior debut beat Matias Tuomi of Finland 11-4 11-8 11-6 in (23m) in England’s opening match of Pool A, whilst Rory Stewart was denied by Dimitri Steinmann (Switzerland) & Bernat Jaume (Spain) in his opening day matches.

Elliott Morris Devred beat Mark Krajcsak of Hungary 11-6 11-6 11-7 in Wales opening Pool A match before losing in four close games to Valentin Rapp of Germany.

Yannick Wilhelmi lost to Alan Clyne of Scotland 8-11, 9-11, 14-12, 7-11 in 59 minutes in his only match on the opening day.

Klara Møller beat Natalie Babjukova of Czech Republic 11-5 11-7-11 11-6 in her opening match for Denmark.
