Iker Pajares Bernabeu and Rory Stewart, the two remaining UNSQUASHABLE players to contest the 2nd round of the U.S. Squash Open presented by TRUIST, were both denied on the second day of the prestigious championships being staged at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center in Philadelphia.
Rory Stewart, who defeated Egyptian Yahya Elnawasany in his opening match was beaten by the experienced and higher-seed Youssef Soliman 11-8 11-3 11-6.
Spanish No.1 Iker Pajares Bernabeu battled hard against England’s Adrian Waller in his 2nd round match but was unable to convert a 2-0 lead and was eventually beaten in 6-11 7-11 11-6 12-10 11-9 in 80 minutes.

Rory Stewart will join fellow UNSQUASHABLE player Iker Pajares Bernabeu in the 2nd round of the US Squash Open 2023 following an impressive 11-5 11-6 4-11 11-4 victory over Egyptian Yahya Elnawasany at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center in Philadelphia.
The young Scot will face Youssef Soliman of Egypt in the 2nd round whilst Spanish No.1 Iker Pajares Bernabeu will play Adrian Waller after the Englishman overcame UNSQUASHABLE player Todd Harrity of the 12-10 12-10 3-11 11-8 in a closely contested 59-minute 1st round match.
Neither Nick Wall nor Lucas Serme were able to advance to the 2nd round following defeats to German No.1 Raphael Kandra and England Nathan Lake respectively.

Nick Wall, recent winner of the PSA Charlotteville Open, will play German No.1 Raphael Kandra in his opening match, with Lucas Serme of France up against Nathan Lake of England. Scotland’s Rory Stewart will face Yahya Elnawasany of Egypt with Todd Harrity of the USA drawn to meet Adrian Waller of England.
Spanish No.1 Iker Pajares Bernabeu has been awarded a 1st round bye & will play the winner of Todd Harrity & Adrian Waller in the 2nd round.
