Ronald Palomino of Colombia continued his impressive comeback to the PSA World Tour with a runner-up place at the Copa Mexico Temazcal 2023 squash championships staged at the Squash Temazcal, Cocoyoc in Morelos, Mexico.
The young Colombian, who recently joined UNSQUASHABLE following an enforced break from the PSA World Tour since November after sustaining an Achilles injury, produced a succession of impressive performances in Morelos to suggest a potential climb up the rankings and a return to the top 100 of the PSA World Rankings in the near future.
Top seed Alfredo Avila of Mexico claimed the title, his third PSA win of 2023. with a thrilling and hard-fought 47-minute 7-11 11-3 11-5 11-5 victory in the Copa Mexico Temazcal final.
Ronald Palomino started the eagerly anticipated final strongly to climb the first game 11-7 but was unable to prevent Avila from eventually claiming the title in four closely contested games.
