Ronald Palomino wins PSA SPAC Open in Sao Paulo, Brazil

Ronald Palomino of Colombia won his seventh PSA Tour title, and his fourth in the last twelve months, with victory at the SPAC Open in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Building upon the impressive form that he showed at the 2024 Pan American Squash Championships in Peru, where he claimed a Silver Medal in the Men’s Singles and Gold Medals in the Men’s Doubles and Team Event, the young Colombian reached the final with wins over compatriot Sebastian Rodriguez Rayo, Francesco Marcantonio of Paraguay and Mexican Cesar Segundo Corona.
Whilst Sebastian Rodriguez and Cesar Segundo Corona were despatch in straight games in the 2nd round & semi-finals respectably, the 2nd seed need 76 minutes to overcome Francesco Marcantonio 7-11 10-12 11-5 11-7 11-5 in a fiercely contested quarter-final.
The final proved short-lived with fellow Colombian Edgar Ramirez, the third seed, forced to retire through injury after just seven minutes of play.
