British National Championships Quarter-Finalist (2026)
U17 European No.2 (2018)

First picking up a racket at the age of 8 through a school squash initiative, John steadily progressed through the Scottish Junior ranks, representing Scotland at all age groups and being ranked as high as second in Europe at under 17 and winning the under 19 National title under the tutelage of Martin Woods.

John moved to Edinburgh in 2019 for university and combined his studying with training at the Scottish Squash National Centre, working closely with National Coach Paul Bell. Since achieving a first-class degree in Economics and Statistics at University of Edinburgh in 2023, John has played full-time on the PSA World Tour, winning his first title.

John has represented Scotland at three European Championships. In this time he has developed his game from a solid, hard-to-beat player into one with a more all round game capable of taking on the best players in the world.

After reaching four PSA Challenger semi-finals in a fruitful 2025/26 season, John has begun his season as an UNSQUASHABLE player in high form, reaching a 6k final in his first PSA tournament which included a career-best win against the world 102. He also reached the quarter-finals of the British National Championships where he bowed out against finalist Sam Todd. He now finds himself as Scotland’s number one ranked player at 203 in the world.

Now competing regularly on the Professional Squash Association (PSA) Tour, Meehan has enjoyed a rapid rise through the professional ranks and currently sits at a career-high World No. 203. His achievements include nine PSA Satellite titles, a third-place finish at the 2026 Scottish Senior Nationals, and representation of Scotland at three European Championships.

Meehan’s progress began at the age of eight when he was introduced to squash through a school initiative. He quickly developed through the Scottish junior system, representing his country across the age groups and establishing himself among Europe’s leading young players.

In 2018, Meehan reached No.2 in Europe at Under 17 level, before claiming the Scottish Under 19 National Championship title in 2019. His development during this period was supported by coach Martin Woods, who helped lay the foundations for his progression towards senior competition.

Following his move to Edinburgh in 2019 to study Economics and Statistics, Meehan successfully combined his academic commitments with an increasingly demanding training programme at Scotland’s National Centre, where he worked closely with National Coach Paul Bell.

After graduating with a first-class degree in Economics and Statistics in 2023, Meehan committed fully to his professional career and began competing on the PSA circuit on a full-time basis.

His breakthrough on the PSA Tour came in July 2024 when he captured his first PSA Satellite title. That victory proved to be the beginning of an impressive run, with Meehan adding eight more Satellite titles to his record. During the same period, he also earned selection for Scotland at three European Championships.

While initially recognised for his consistency and resilience, Meehan has continued to broaden his game, developing into a more complete player capable of challenging higher-ranked opposition and competing effectively against some of the world's leading professionals.

The 2025/26 season provided further evidence of that progression, with Meehan reaching four PSA Challenger semi-finals during a highly productive campaign. He then began the following season in impressive fashion as an UNSQUASHABLE player, reaching the final of a PSA 6k event in his opening tournament and recording a career-best victory over a player ranked inside the world’s top 110.

Meehan also produced a strong performance at the 2026 British National Championships, advancing to the quarter-finals before his run ended against eventual finalist Sam Todd.

With his ranking continuing to rise and his game developing across all areas of the court, Meehan has emerged as one of Scotland’s most promising players on the international circuit. Now established as Scotland’s No.1 ranked player, he enters the next stage of his career with increasing experience, growing confidence and a clear ambition to continue climbing the PSA World Rankings.
